When a selling agent successful finds a buyer prepared to purchase their property for $500,000 they are paid a commission on the settlement of that property (when the name on title and keys exchange hands). Depending on which state (we will use QLD for this example and the standard REIQ commission structure) and the agreement on the 22a (letter of appointment between seller and selling agent), will determine the commission payable.
QLD REIQ standard commission is 5% of the 1st $18,000 & 2.5% of the balance + 10%GST
This equates to $14,245 inclusive of GST.
This is where your share comes from. The $14,245 is dispersed a number of ways depending on who and how many are involved in the transaction.
